The Race for Team of the Year
With the polls now open, the race is on to determine the top boys and girls teams of the year. The Repository sports staff has carefully selected an impressive lineup of nominees, each with their own remarkable story.
Girls Team of the Year Nominees
- Canton Central Catholic Basketball: These girls fought their way to the Division VI state runner-up title, an incredible feat.
- Louisville Softball: A strong showing, as they also claimed the Division III state runner-up position.
- Marlington Volleyball: Consistency is key, as this team qualified for the state tournament for the third consecutive year.
- Perry Wrestling: A true powerhouse, Perry dominated with a team state championship and an impressive three individual state titles.
Boys Team of the Year Nominees
- Lake Center Christian Baseball: History was made as this team brought home the Division VI state championship, a first for the school.
- Massillon Basketball: Another first-time champion, Massillon secured the Division II state title in basketball.
- Fairless Track: A consistent performer, Fairless finished a commendable third in Division IV at the state meet.
- Perry Wrestling: Perry's boys also made their mark, finishing third in Division I at the state meet.
